Red carpet for Inbetweeners stars - Belfast Telegraph

TV-turned-movie stars Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, Blake Harrison and James Buckley made it up the red carpet for the premiere of The Inbetweeners Movie - without a wardrobe malfunction in sight.

Hundreds of fans waited for hours in London's Leicester Square to catch a glimpse of their favourite cast members from the E4 sitcom, who are finally getting the big-screen treatment.

A suited and booted Joe, whose character Simon often gets caught out without clothes, joked: "I'm not taking any chances today. I've got industrial strength trousers to begin with anyway. I thought I would wear some clothes for a change."

The quartet were amazed by the sheer numbers of the crowds at the premiere, which included celebrity fans Jesse Metcalfe, Jimmy Carr and Gethin Jones.

"It feels surreal. We didn't expect anyone to be here," said Simon.

Fans can be reassured that the film, which follows the antics of school leavers Simon, Will (Bird), Jay (Buckley) and Neil (Harrison) on their first guys' holiday in Malia, will see the lads behaving badly as always.

"To be honest, there's a bit of nakedness from all of us," teased Simon.

James insisted he employed a body double for some of his scenes.

"I was too toned and ripped, so we had to swap," he said, with Simon adding: "Forget Cowboys And Aliens - watch The Inbetweeners Movie instead."

The Inbetweeners Movie, directed by Ben Palmer and written by the series creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, opens in cinemas on Wednesday August 17.
