Marilyn Monroe's wedding ring & nude painting up for grabs
The 35 baguette-cut diamonds ring was given to the 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes' star by legendary New York Yankees baseball player, Joe DiMaggio on their wedding day in 1954.
The starting bid for the ring is reported to start at 300,000 dollars, Contactmusic reported.
Initially the 'Profiles in History' auctioneers had decided to highlight the Icons of Hollywood sale with the ruby slippers, which Judy Garland wore in 'The Wizard of Oz', but now they have gone ahead with more than they had earlier planned.
A naked painting of the tragic movie icon when she was young by Earl Moran in the 1940s has also been added to the celebrity memorabilia auction cart, bids for which are set to start at 70,000 dollars.
Kim Kardashian Magazine cover photo for Harper Magazine - Hot Momma Celebrity Gossip (blog)
Just within weeks of being published as the most annoying celebrity by the Parade fashion magazine, Kim Kardashian got something to show to her co-stars on small screen. Kim took on the revenge to her defamation by featuring on the magazine cover of Harpers Bazaar Arabias new issue.
The Kim Kardashian magazine cover photo came as a part of a photo shoot for Harper Bazaar Arabia, in which Kim can be seen in a strapless white and black Dolce and Gabbana music print dress which was selected from the Autumn/Winter 2011 D&G collection.
Kim can be seen flaunting her open locks, a bronzed makeup, and clear lips. In addition to this body hugging attire, she was sporting heavy jewelry that consisted of a thick cuff bracelet, and star-theme based earings. Later, Kim appeared in two more dresses. First in a fluffy colored yellow star print outfit, and next in a sequinned star outfit. Everything was purportedly a part of the underlying desert-chic theme.
The magazine stills were photographed by John Russo, a well established fashion photographer who chose the star theme for the day.
This is Kims first venture in the Middle East and she was really excited by the launch. In fact, she even blogged and posted the picture asking for comments on how she looked. Well Kim, until you are showing yourself up in skinny attire, you are definitely bound to look good.
However, this is not much of an achievement for superstar Kim K who has usually been seen on cover pages of global magazines such as the People, Cosmopolitan, US, and OK. Well, this unexpected appearance for the superstar Kardashian might have come as a result of the discomfort caused by the annoying Parade comments.

Violet Hour Concert in LA
Time for a bit of a blast from the past, who here remebers Lauren Frost & Margo Harshman from Even Stevens? Lauren played Rens slightly ditsy friend Ruby and the lovely Margo played Tawny, Louiss friend and eventual love interest. Well, these two talented girls recently formed a band called Violet Hour and they put on a show at El Cid in LA on 9/27/11.
And Im sure it will be of no surprise to frequent readers that I was there. Wait, heres a picture to prove it.
Okay, so obviously I had a few moments to meet them after their set. Theyre both really nice and Margo in particular was just amazing. She even hugged me, and I just about died. xD
Anyway, I had a great time and Im glad I was able to go. Heres some video of them performing
the production vlaues were obviously abit lacking (especially when compared to Demis show last week) but I was still qite impressed. They had a smoothe sound and it was a fun time.
There are a lot more videos of the girls up on my youtube page if youre interested.
BTW, if youre interested in my minute to minute adventures you might want to follow me on my events twitter @socaldisney. And if youre interested in learning more about Violet Hour, you can find them on twitter and facebook.

Wendy Williams: "I've Had 3 Miscarriages; It Was A Nightmare" - celebritybabyscoop
The Wendy Williams Show just kicked off it's third season with some fabulous guests such as Tamera and Tia Mowry, Roseanne Barr and Kate Gosselin. The host of the popular daytime show, New York Times bestselling author Wendy Williams, promises a fun season ahead: "Fashion shows, people we like and who we should like...an eclectic mix of celebs."
The mom-of-one opens up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about her "very handsome" 11-year-old son Kevin, her struggles with having more biological children and her thoughts on expanding the family: "My mind is on adoption."
CBS: Tell us about your son Kevin. How old is he? What is he into?
WW: "He is 11-years-old. We just celebrated his birthday in August while we were on a 16-city tour promoting the show. Hes already 57, hes in the 6th grade and hes very handsome. I dont know how this happened - I only breastfed for 2 weeks; it just wasnt my thing!"
CBS: Does Kevin show an interest in showbiz? If so, would you encourage him to follow in moms footsteps?
WW: "Ugh, goshhes an avid basketball fan and has a wealth of knowledge (trivia etc.) on the topic. He has 3 dream careers and we try and encourage him without being over bearing. The first is a NBA player and thats a one in a million shot, the second is a NBA commentator and the third is helping to run the family business. Im busy everyday trying to get my business to run efficiently and hes really into watching me do it. But, any one of these choices he doesnt like or not like more than the other. We have an incredible relationship and we talk about it all the time. Hes very bright (although not straight As; he gets that from me!) and I tell him right now, school is your job."
CBS: Did you ever want to have more children?
WW: "I think I missed the boat on thatIm 47 and Ive had 3 miscarriages. One was at 7 weeks and the other two were at 5 months. It was just a nightmare and it happened 3 years in proximity. I met my man and we got married after the first miscarriagewe decided we were going to try this again. We got right into the baby making thing and I gained 103 pounds and I was on bed rest. My mind is on adoption and even that has a 3 year window. I really do want a girl, but I am so blessed with the family we created."
CBS: How do you balance your busy career and motherhood?
WW: "Well, I always have wipes, Krazy glue, a Tide stick and a writing agenda. Im also really good at purging junk. We just got finished with an underwear fashion show so Kevin could show me his favorite bottoms! Right after I get off the phone with you, Im putting all the new underwear upstairs in his drawer and throwing all the old ones out! I also try to fix broken things right away. My manager and my Executive Producer is my husband and I never have to explain why Im leaving at 1:00 - he knows why, Im lucking in that aspect. Weve figured out to work our family into our family business."
CBS: We love your show! What can we expect in the upcoming season? What are your secrets for keeping the audience coming back?
WW: "Expect more of the same things from the 3rd season - fashion shows, people we like and who we should like. Plus I think its always an eclectic mix of celebs: Dina and Ally Lohan defending the press she gets, Common, Rosanne Barr, etc. I think the secret is that behind the scenes we play! My staff is inviting and we try to dress to feel cute and of course, our audience is a cool mix of people too. I feel really blessed having this show and before it started I said that I just have to be me. I throw my head back when I laugh, I wear wigs, Ill never be that short-haired woman! My show allows me to be me and think people respond to that."
CBS: Youre known for having on-air spats with some of the guests on your show. Tell us about some of your favorite celebrity spats.
WW: "Well, I dont think that theyre spats, but people really want to know the information. For example, Kody Brown from TLCs Sister Wives was on and I told him, 'Im so glad youre here, but I dont understand and Im coming from a place of judgment. I mean, you have 4 wives, one is about to give birth to your 17th childWhich one is legally married to you? (turns out, only one) and how does sex go down?' His responses are very interesting and I guess thats what makes the world go round!
The bottom line is The Wendy Williams Show is on in 52 countries! This show is a dream come true. Fifteen yrs ago I may have donned a pair of flat front khakis, but Im not that girl! I just want to be me."

Nina Dobrev Voted Best Dressed At The Emmy Awards - PRLog (free press release)
The research was conducted by www.MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk and polled 1,863 people aged 18 over, following the Emmy Awards last week. Respondents were asked Which of the following celebrities do you think was the best dressed at the Emmy Awards? and were shown a series of different pictures taken during this years ceremony. Respondents were able to choose multiple answers.
The Top 10 Best dressed female celebrities at this years Emmy awards, according to the poll from MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk, were as follows:
1. Nina Dobrev 76%
2. Lea Michele 68%
3. Evan Rachel Wood 52%
4. Kate Winslet 49%
5. Heidi Klum 42%
6. Kelly Osbourne 35%
7. Sofia Vergara 32%
8. Christina Hendricks 28%
9. Dianna Agron 22%
10. Cobie Smulders 21%
When making their choice, respondents were asked to say what they liked the most about the style of the dress worn by their chosen celebrities. The majority, 76%, of respondents who voted for Nina Dobrev thought that she looked sexy in her dress , whilst 68% of those who voted for Lea Michelle said that they liked the simple style of her dress.
Respondents of the study were also asked to label who they felt wore the least stylish dress during the Emmy Awards. Jayma Mays from Glee was voted worst dressed of the night with 38% of the votes, closely followed by Paz De La Huerta with 35% of the votes. Melissa McCarthy from Mike and Molly came a close third with 26% of the votes.
Speaking about these latest findings, Andy Barr, Marketing Director of MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk, commented:
Events such as the Emmy Awards are the perfect occasion for celebrities to impress with their best outfits. This year, Nina Dobrev clinched the top spot in the eyes of the British public, who clearly loved her style. Even though Heidi Klum is more of a renowned fashion icon, Nina managed to take the top spot from a top model who is well-known for her sensational sense of fashion, which is no mean feat.
He continued:
I guess that not everybody has been gifted with incredible style and Jayma Mays could probably borrow a few tips from Nine Dobrev next time. Either that, or invest in a different stylist!

My Flair Lady: Carmelita Couture's Camelita Greco, fearless fashionista - Main Line Media News
By Caroline O'Halloran
Except for her Wynnewood address and a curious fondness for bold Lilly Pulitzer prints, theres nothing traditionally Main Line about fashion designer Carmelita Greco. With her edgy hairstyle, her exotic Mexican/Hungarian/French ethnicity and her high-drama wardrobe, Carmelita, 36 is nothing short of a showstopper. Its no wonder she often models in her own fashion layouts.
Perhaps the only time this daring Michigan native played it safe was when she chose a career as a stockbroker over her first love, fashion a decision rectified less than a decade later when her design hobby made a such a splash among her Miami friends that she launched her own label.
Less than four years later, Carmelita Couture is sold online (www.shopcarmelitacouture.com) and in fashion-forward boutiques in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Sidney and Dubai. Celebrity clients include Paula Abdul, Kourtney Kardashian, London pop star Vivi Brown and Vampire Diaries TV s tar Katerina Graham.
Now based in Philadelphia, Carmelita closed her eponymous Old City store a few months ago but this fall plans to open a fashion co-op with like-minded designers in the Rittenhouse Square area.
Carmelita and her husband, Eric Greco, an options trader and professional bridge player, have a three-year-old son, Julio.
Describe your personal style.
Creative, feminine, fashion-forward, colorful and unique.
When youre not in Carmelita Couture, what are you wearing?
Usually something vintage. I also like Lilly Pulitzer, especially her bold pieces like corduroy paisley pants. Its like walking back into the 60s. For basics, Ill go to Target and for polos, I like Ralph Lauren.
Whats the newest thing in your closet?
A cream colored, mid-length lace jacket I bought in London.
Whats the oldest? Continued...
Whats your current go-to piece?
A black mini (dress) from my current collection. It has interesting shoulder beading and its in a heavy stretch fabric that keeps everything in place. I feel good in it.
What was your all-time fashion splurge?
My Dolce & Gabbana over-the-knee boots. High-end shoes are worth investing in because they tend to be more creative and interesting than inexpensive shoes, and theyre made so much better.
How about your all-time best buy?
I have a very bold lion medallion necklace; its a vintage piece from the 70s. It looks handmade but I paid very little for it. You dont need to spend a lot to fi nd great costume jewelry.
What style will you never wear?
Low-waist pants. A higher-waist makes your leg look longer so you look taller and thinner.
If you could return to one fashion era what would it be?
I love the 40s the strong shoulder, the tiny waistline, the fitted suits, the glamorous silk gowns with open backs and little trains.
If you could be compared to one designer, who would you most like it to be?
Id love to be called a more wearable [Roberto] Capucci. His clothes were fun, colorful and creative. Plus, we both work with ruffles and plastics. Continued...
My Christian spirituality is the premier thing about who I am; its wh at drives me to create and inspires me. Faith has allowed me to try new things, to understand that life is short and I have nothing to fear.
What else influences your designs?
Global culture, the history of fashion and sculpture, nature, the heavens and travel.
I also stay on top of pop culture trends.
Who makes your best-dressed list?
Charlize Theron and January Jones anyone who takes a little bit of a chance and shows personality in what theyre wearing.
Which celebrities would you most like to dress?
Blake Lively, Audrey Tautou, Daphne Guinness, Jessica Alba and Sarah Jessica Parker. For our more eccentric pieces the singers Katy Perry and Jessie J.
What will you be wearing this fall?
Capelets, jumpsuits, jumpers and lots of cobalt blue suede because I use so much of it in this falls Modern Warrior collection.
Whats your best fashion adv ice?
Use fashion to express your personality. So many women play it safe. If you wear a black dress to a party, wear something so you stand out: a bright pair of shoes, a funky ring or an interesting necklace. And dont be afraid to embrace your curves and wear clothes that show your figure well, things that accentuate your best body parts, whether its your back, your legs or your bustline. Lighten up and have fun with fashion.

Genealogy notes 23-28 Sep Business and trade union records
I have a few reviews to do at present (even an e-book and digital scrapbooking software so there's two new experiences) which means I have been doing a fair bit of reading this week. Given Melbourne is having a return to cold, wet and windy weather that hasn't been a bad thing. The hard part comes writing up the reviews, although they are all subjects that I am personally interested in. Stay tuned.
The other thing that has kept me busy is scanning family photos and relooking at some of my older research. By using TROVE and in particular the digitised newspapers I can now add more details to my original research. It is so easy to find stories or family notices doing simple keyword searches especially if you have dates and places. Of course once I find relevant entries, I then have to correct the OCR text and I usually add a tag (person's name or place) so that others can then find it even more easily.
When I took an early photo of my parents out of its frame (originally from my grandmother's place after she died) I found another photo behind it of a woman and child, but of course no names or date. The woman has a slight resemblance to my grandmother but I have no idea who it might be. I will take the photo up to Mum's at Christmas and hope she may know who it is.
We continue to declutter our house and make preparations to sell and move further north where it is warm. Although now there is talk we may just live in a caravan for a while before we decide where to buy. That all sounds nice but I can't see where all my family history files are going to live, not to mention my books and other memorabilia. While I am slowly digitising my research of the last 34 years it won't be finished by the end of the year. I can't see myself leaving it in a storage shed somewhere or even in a shipping container. All I can hope is that we will finally agree on where to settle on our next trip up and down the Queensland/New South Wales coast!! Christmas/New Year is going to be interesting.
